  34. CATraxx is the perfect program to catalog and manage a 
  35. record collection. With it's intuitive easy-to-use interface 
  36. you can start cataloging your records immediately. CATraxx 
  37. allows you to keep track of just about every aspect of your 
  38. collection. Using CATraxx you can quickly catalog CDs by 
  39. download disc data from the Internet CDDB database.

  41. CATraxx is the choice of professional DJs, radio stations 
  42. and individuals world-wide who want to keep track of their 
  43. record collection. Now you can have a perfectly organized 
  44. collection.
  45.  
  46. CATraxx has a very comprehensive set of fields, 
  47. including 20 user-defined fields, for both albums 
  48. and tracks, enabling you to catalog all the information 
  49. you want. You can store an image of the album cover and 
  50. add your own personal comments for both albums and 
  51. tracks. You register most information, like artist, format, 
  52. label and group lineup, only once. This saves disk space 
  53. and makes it easier to search for exactly the information 
  54. you want.

  56. The loan module lets you keep track of albums on loan. 
  57. Check the program periodically to see what is still out 
  58. on loan. You will always know who has what and since 
  59. when. CATraxx also lets you track both initial investment 
  60. and the value of your collection.

  62. You can effectively search the database for information 
  63. that you require. Search in all fields with any 
  64. combination of fields and operators. In addition, 
  65. CATraxx lets you cross reference up to five fields. 
  66. This is an extremely flexible way to search and query data.

  68. The report module lets you create almost any type of 
  69. report. Use one of the pre-defined reports, or create 
  70. your own from scratch. You have full control over 
  71. columns, fonts and margins. CATraxx lets you preview 
  72. reports on screen before printing.

  74. CATraxx uses popup menus for quick feature access 
  75. and navigation. CATraxx comes with a sample database 
  76. to get you started and a comprehensive context-sensitive 
  77. on-line help system. CATraxx runs on both Windows 3.1 
  78. and Window 95.

  84. CATraxx is distributed as shareware. This means you are 
  85. welcome to give copies of CATraxx to your friends and 
  86. colleagues. For a list of files that need to be distributed, 
  87. please see VENDINFO.DIZ. Do not, under any circumstances, 
  88. distribute CATRAXX.MEM. This file contains the serial number, 
  89. and with this information we can trace the copy back to you. 
  90. When CATRAXX.MEM is not present, CATraxx runs as an 
  91. unregistered shareware version.

  95. Installation

  97. NOTE!
  98.   If you downloaded this package from the Internet, please 
  99.   read this paragraph very carefully: A file called 
  100.   VBRUN300.DLL needs to be installed on your computer before
  101.   SETUP is run. To save space, this file was not included 
  102.   in this package. Please check your SYSTEM directory 
  103.   (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) to see if you already have this
  104.   file (this is very likely). If not then download, unzip and 
  105.   copy the file to the SYSTEM directory. It is very important
  106.   that you do this before SETUP is run!

  119. To install CATraxx, follow these steps:
  120.  
  121. From Diskette
  122.  
  123.   1. Insert diskette number 1 into your diskette drive.
  124.   
  125.   2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program 
  126.      Manager File menu choose Run.
  127.      
  128.      If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start 
  129.      menu choose Run.
  130.  
  131.   3. In the text box, type the path to the installation program, 
  132.      for example A:\SETUP, and choose OK.
  133.  
  134.   4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to 
  135.      install CATraxx. Unless you specify a different directory 
  136.      the application will be installed in C:\CATRAXX.
  137.  
  138.   5. Choose OK to start the installation process.
  139.  
  140. From Hard Disk
  141.  
  142.   1. Ensure that all CATraxx installation files are in the 
  143.      same directory, for example C:\CATTEMP.
  144.  
  145.   2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program 
  146.      Manager File menu choose Run.
  147.  
  148.      If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start 
  149.      menu choose Run.
  150.  
  151.   3. In the text box, type the name of the drive and directory 
  152.      where the installation files are located, then type \SETUP 
  153.      (for example C:\CATTEMP\SETUP) and choose OK.
  154.  
  155.   4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to 
  156.      install CATraxx. Unless you specify a different directory 
  157.      the application will be installed in C:\CATRAXX.
  158.  
  159.   5. Choose OK to start the installation process. 
  160.  
  161. If you have any problems with the installation, you may
  162. install files manually by following this procedure:
  163.  
  164.   1. Start a "DOS-window" (In Program Manager double-click 
  165.      on the MS-DOS icon).
  166.   2. What you type at the DOS prompt depends on the file
  167.      you want to install. For example, if you want to install
  168.      THREED.VBX, follow these steps:
  169.  
  170.      - Insert the correct diskette (in this case diskette
  171.        no. 1) into you diskette drive.
  172.     
  173.      - Type this command (you may need to substitute A for
  174.        the letter of your diskette drive, for example B)
  175.       
  176.          EXPAND A:\THREED.VB_ C:\CATRAXX\THREED.VBX  <Enter>
  177.  
  178.        THREED.VBX is unpacked and copied to the program
  179.        directory.
  180.  
  181.      Normally, files with the extension VBX or DLL should be 
  182.      installed in the SYSTEM directory (usually 
  183.      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM). Do not copy files to this directory 
  184.      yourself. If, however, you do, please make a copy of the 
  185.      original file first. You might overwrite a newer version, 
  186.      and as a result some other application might not work.
